Description:
Children's Home of Jefferson County (CHJC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recruitment and Retention Specialist for our Foster Care Program. This role focuses on recruiting, training, and retaining foster parents to ensure safe, permanent homes for youth. The specialist will also ensure foster parent certification and support through training and guidance.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead foster parent recruitment efforts and activities as outlined in CHJC’s Recruitment Plan
  • Partner with local media for creative recruitment campaigns
  • Provide training and support to foster parents to ensure retention
  • Facilitate required training and certification processes for foster parents
  • Conduct home consultations, safety inspections, and ensure compliance with NYS regulations
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure proper documentation for all interactions and activities
  • Attend and participate in agency recruitment, fundraising, and training events as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or related area preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with at-risk youth
  • Familiarity with Family Court, Social Services, and Probation Departments
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Valid NYS driver’s license required
  • Ability to travel throughout the service area

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, bend, and stoop.
  • Ability to perform fine motor skills, read, and type for long periods.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based with occasional travel for recruitment events, home visits, and community meetings.
