The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for its upcoming presentation of two annual 2025 Tourism Excellence Awards, which will be awarded during the annual Tourism Dinner on Wednesday, June 4th, at the historic Freight House in Ogdensburg. Nominations can be submitted online using a digital form now through May 15th at www.VisitSTLC.com/tourism-dinner
The ‘Best to the Guest’ Tourism Excellence award recognizes a business or organization that shows ‘commitment to an excellent guest experience, customer service, unique offerings, and attention to detail, which brings pride to St. Lawrence County’. The award is chosen based on nominations and reviews from Facebook, Tripadvisor, Google and Yelp. Past recipients include (2016) Clarkson Inn; (2017) Robideau’s Mahogany Ridge; (2018) Jake’s on the Water; (2019) Nicandri Nature Center; (2022) North Country Children’s Museum; (2023) Sherman Inn; and (2024) Otto’s Abode.
The ‘Best Destination Marketing Initiative’ award recognizes the effort to implement an outstanding tourism marketing initiative raising awareness and attracting visitors to St. Lawrence County. Past recipients include (2016) Hammond Barn Quilt Trail;
(2017) Mare’s Ware’s Arts Fest; (2018) Waddington Party in the Park: Bassmaster Elite Series; (2019) Ogdensburg International Airport; (2022) TAUNY; (2023) Explore Massena / Fish Massena; and (2024) SLC Arts / North Country Arts Festival.
The Tourism Dinner is open to community leaders and tourism industry partners, businesses and interested parties. This year’s theme, “Tourism at Home,” will highlight the impact of tourism on local businesses, jobs, and community development, reinforcing the vital role of tourism as an asset for those who call St. Lawrence County home.
A networking-focused happy hour will begin at 5:00pm, followed by dinner, presentations, and awards at 7:30pm. A charismatic feature presentation will be made by Josiah Brown, founder of Famous Destination Marketing, exploring the concept of “Resident First Tourism” with inspirational insights on how local communities can take an active role in shaping their tourism identity.
