Canton-Potsdam Hospital Guild Seeking Volunteers for New Gift Shop

Canton-Potsdam Hospital Guild Seeking Members to Staff New Gift Shop POTSDAM – The Canton-Potsdam Hospital Guild is asking community members to step up and make time to serve their community in a fun way. The purposes of the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Guild are to provide service to Canton-Potsdam Hospital and its patients, assist in promoting the health and welfare of the community in accordance with the goals of the Hospital, operate a gift shop and other business activities, and sponsor fundraising events. The guild’s membership drive is currently underway. Dues are just $10/year. Members are encouraged to volunteer to help staff one of the guild’s fundraisers, or simply to support the work of the guild by paying dues and, if desired, donating in support of the cause. The Gift Shop was the Guild’s most successful fundraiser until the pandemic forced the shop to close. Now, nearly five years later, the establishment will re-open as the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Guild Gift Shop, named as such for a pledge of $150,000 toward the campaign for the new Regional Care Pavilion. While the shop was closed, other fundraisers became essential to the Guild’s efforts to make an annual gift to the Hospital. The second most successful fundraiser is the annual golf tournament that will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Other sponsored events include a garden tour, soup luncheon, pickleball tournament, wreath sale, and other community wellness activities. Volunteers are needed to staff the gift shop as the guild prepares to open it. Merchandise has arrived, the point-of-sale system is nearly complete, but there is still a need for more volunteers before the shop can open, hopefully in time for the holiday shopping season. Proceeds from all fundraisers benefit nursing scholarships and staff professional development opportunities, maintain the Butterfly Garden (80 Main St., Canton) and support the pledge for the new Regional Care Pavilion.
