Description
Le Siège du Fort de La Présentation
Formerly Founder’s Weekend, the Le Siège du Fort de La Présentation will bring Reenactors from throughout the U.S. and Canada help celebrate Ogdensburg’s French colonial history, and to live life as people did during the French and Indian War. The weekend seeks to recreate history and bring it to life featuring live re-enactments of land and water battles, and showcasing French, British, native and maritime encampments. This event has been ongoing for a decade and is especially instructive to children who can touch, feel and live history. Participants dressed in clothing from the time period will show how they lived, made sashes, wove baskets, started fires and threw tomahawks.
Throughout the weekend there will be demonstrations and presentations of both civilian and military life. These activities will include:
- Tomahawk Throwing
- Blacksmithing
- Children's Muster
- Small Arm Demonstrations
- Period Lighting & Candle Dipping
- Spin & Loom Wools
- 18th Century Fishing
- Live Music: 18th Century ballads and sentimental melodies of the Victorian Age by Linda Russell
The St. Lawrence County Commerce will be hosting an Fort Fest - Artist Festival adjacent to the event with artists and creators on site. Click HERE for more information on the Fort Fest - Artist Festival.
