Canton Canoe Weekend
Canton Canoe Weekend is one of the premier canoe race weekends in New York State! There are top-level international competitions in solo and tandem racing canoes and kayaks. The 12 and 14-mile courses are among the most challenging on the marathon race circuit. In addition, there are 1, 4 and 8-mile race events appropriate for the local recreational racer, and a 2-mile team relay race for recreational paddlers. All races are on the Grasse and Little Rivers, with the start and finish at Taylor Park, Canton NY.
Amenities include a children’s playground, music by DJ Double Dutch, chicken barbeque, drinks and snacks by GT's Family Restaurant (Sat. only), award ceremonies, ample parking and free overnight camping.
Friday, May 2
Race day registration opens at 4:00pm
The Rushton Tour
5:00-6:00pm: is a 4.5-mile one-way downstream recreational paddle from Pyrites to Taylor Park, or you may choose to launch at Taylor Park and paddle upstream and return to Taylor Park. Rushton Tour Entry Fees (Per Paddler): Adult: $15, SLVP Member: $10, Student/Youth: $5, Wounded Warrior: free.
Saturday, May 3
Race day registration opens at 8:00am
Modern Rushton Races
9:30am - 11:30am: Bring your canoe or kayak and join-in on a morning recreational races of 1, 4, or 8-miles.
Special awards will be presented in the ‘Rushton Division’ for the 1-mile and 4-mile races for those paddling Rushton type canoes, either homebuilt or produced by various commercial manufacturers. Entry Fees (Per Paddler): Pro: $40, Amateur/Adult: $30, SLVP Members: $25, Student/Youth: $10, Wounded Warrior: free.
12:00pm: Recreational Races Awards Ceremony
Marathon Canoe and Kayak Pro Amateur Races
12:30pm - 2:30pm: C-1 Pro International World Championship, 14-miles and C-1/K-1 Amateur Races, 12-miles. A men's and women's and two mile sprint race will be incorporated at the beginning of the C-1 pro races with awards for the top finishers. These races are held on the Grasse and Little Rivers. Entry Fees (Per Paddler): Pro: $40, Amateur/Adult: $30, SLVP Member: $25. Student/Youth: $10, Wounded Warrior: Free.
3:00pm: C-1/K-1 Races Awards Ceremony
GT's Famous Chicken Barbeque
12:30pm - 4:00 pm (or until sold out): The chicken dinner includes 1/2 chicken, salt potatoes, pasta salad, homemade roll, brownie or cookie and a drink. A half chicken only option is also available. Pre-orders by Sunday, April 27th are appreciated and will help GT's plan. Pre-order cutoff will be Thursday, May 1st at 12:00pm. Cash and Venmo payments accepted.
Joe Randi/Rushton Relay Race
3:30pm - 4:30pm: A two-mile canoe race with classes for Family and Friends, High School Teams, College Challenge Teams and an Open Division. This is a FUN 2-mile race! Entry Fees (Per Paddler): Adult: $25, SLVP Members: $20, Student/Youth: $10, Wounded Warrior: free.
Canton Canoe Weekend Raffle Drawing
4:30pm: The drawing for the Slipstream Watercraft 'Wee Lassie' canoe package, GRB custom colored canoe paddle, and a clothes tree and charcuterie board. You need not be present to win!
Sunday, May 4

10:00am-12:00pm: C-2 Pro, 14-miles; and C-2/K-2 Amateur, K-1 Special Races, 12-miles. These races are held on the Grasse and Little Rivers.
