Lifeguard - St. Lawrence County

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: May be full time or part time, depending on the needs of the program and the hours needed.

 

Qualifications: Certified Lifeguard, certified in First Aid and CPR; experience working with the intellectually and developmentally disabled preferred. Valid NYS Drivers License.

 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Authorized to work in the United States and pass all background clearances.

 

Summary/Objective: The lifeguard has the primary responsibility of providing direct supervision and assisting participating staff and individuals during pool programming. The person is required to spend the majority of his/her time in direct contact with pool participants.

 

Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Provide direct supervision of the pool area to monitor and ensure individual safety
  2. Will maintain daily participant attendance sheet.
  3. Will complete accident/incident reports.
  4. Will ensure daily documentation of all individuals goals.
  5. Will maintain weekly contact with Program Director to report progress and ensure open lines of communication.
  6. Will monitor pool equipment on a daily basis and report repair needs to Program Director.
  7. Will be responsible for infection control in the locker rooms.
  8. Will launder suits/towels as needed.
  9. When pool is closed for any reason, Lifeguard will assume responsibilities/duties assigned by Program Director. These duties include: assisting with community integration opportunities, daily recreational activities, special activities, behavior management, and/or general classroom supervision, as need.
  10. Other duties as assigned by the director or designee.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; walk; lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Work may require lifting, pushing, or pulling in excess of 30 pounds. Will be required to get in the pool and interact with those in the pool.

Wage Range: $15.00 - $17.10; Based on education and experience
