Description
CONQUERING THE SKIES & FIELDS
Kenny Friedel will present a program about Ogdensburg's fascinating and sometimes turbulent commercial flight history. The program traces the history of the Ogdensburg Aerocraft Factory opening in the 1920s where bombers, military training crafts and scout planes were manufactured there from 1920-1925.
The Huff-Daland Company in Ogdensburg developed the first air crop-dusting company (ca. 1925), changing agricultural pest control and altering natural landscapes. Friedel is an avid railroad enthusiast, historian and researcher specializing in WWI railways, engine mechanics and developments in transportation technology.
This program is brought to you by the St. Lawrence Historical Association's Brown Bag Lunch Series and is dedicated to the memory of Patricia Harrington Carson, who founded it during her 24 years as an SLCHA Trustee.
