Description
An opportunity to "talk bees" and learn how to perform an important winterizing task for bee health. We look forward to a fun and informative afternoon with our host, decades-long beekeeper Luke Martin providing an informal opportunity to learn his successful and mindful technique of wrapping bee hives for the winter, while considering ways to deal with radiant heat and condensation. Luke uses easily obtained materials to wrap the hive and trap any radiant heat that may be available. He will address the concern for proper circulation to prevent killing condensation while over-wintering, as it is important that the hive be allowed to "breathe". Please dress appropriately for the weather as this workshop is largely outside (some cover available) and will be held rain or shine. LOCATION 11 Needham Road Potsdam, NY 13676 4 miles east of Potsdam on 11B, NW corner of Needham Rd. Look for the Farmstand signs and the orange Local Living Venture Workshop Site lawn sign.
