Description
HUNT FOR HISTORY PADDLE
Help Nature Up North find remnants of the logging history of the North Country, right on the Grasse River! On this paddle, you'll leave the Little River Boat launch in search of buried treasure (stone piles) deep beneath the waves of the Grasse River.
Long ago, loggers would pile stones in the Grasse River to block it in the fall and log through the winter. In the spring, they would remove the dams and let the spring floods carry logs downstream to mills along the shore. At low water, the remnants of these dams are still visible beneath the waves.
Register HERE to join Nature Up North on the paddle and let them know if you'll need canoes, paddles, or lifejackets!
