Celebrate a weekend of art, history, and culture with activities spanning the weekend of October 4th through October 6th!FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4

Crafts & Cider Pressing with SLCCHC at the Canton Farmer's Market
Come visit the St. Lawrence County Center for History and Culture at the Canton Farmer’s Market for special seasonal crafts and a cider pressing demonstration using an old-fashioned apple press. All ages are welcome, attendance is FREE!

Harvest Moon Cowboy Ball at the Frederic Remington Art Museum
Celebrate Frederic Remington's 163rd birthday! Enjoy lovely appetizers and a cash bar. Their silent auction is not to be missed. Plan to have fun dancing the evening away in your best western wear - think cowboy hats and boots, fringe, and denim! Learn more or purchase tickets HERE.

Flannel Fest - Downtown Canton
The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce invites you to wear flannel and shop locally in Downtown Canton on Saturday, October 5th! Many downtown businesses will be hosting pre-holiday specials and fun throughout normal business hours. Grab your favorite flannel and discover Downtown Canton! Woodworking Wall Art - Youth Workshop at the TAUNY Center
Led by Kate Schuler, featuring simple hand tools, and adaptable challenge levels, the Lath Wall Art class is designed to make woodworking safe, accessible, and enjoyable for artists of a variety of abilities. Includes wall art to take home after the workshop. See all details HERE.

Bear Storytime - Canton Free Library
The Canton Free Library will host a Bear Storytime for children from toddler up through early elementary ages at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 5th. There will be fun stories, songs, movement, and crafts. The program will last about an hour. We hope to see you!

Community Tree Identification Walk with Nature Up North
Come join Nature Up North on a tree identification walk! During this walk in Canton, you will learn to identify some common trees in the North Country and their ecological and cultural significance. The walk will start at the loop at Johnson Hall of Science, St. Lawrence University. Parking can be found on the corner of Park St. and St. Lawrence University (J-Lot). See more details HERE.

Woodworking Geometric Artworks at the TAUNY Center
Join teaching artist Kate Schuler at The TAUNY Center for a fun and creative free family drop-in workshop where you'll transform simple wooden lath pieces into geometric artworks! This hands-on experience encourages creativity to paint, assemble, and enjoy your collaborative artwork.

Pumpkin Pottery Painting - Creative Spirit Community Arts Center (SLC Arts Council)
Unleash your creativity and celebrate the beauty of fall with our Painting Pumpkin Pottery event! Perfect for all ages, this fun-filled activity lets you paint a bisque-fired pumpkin with vibrant glaze colors. Once you're done, we'll label and fire your masterpiece in partnership with Third Wheel Pottery, making it ready for pick-up in the coming weeks – just in time for Halloween and autumn decorating!
Pre-registration is required. 10 slots available per hour (1-2pm, 2-3pm, 3-4pm) $15 per pumpkin, all materials included.

Día de los Muertos Family Fun at the Silas Wright House (SLCCHC)
Learn about the history and customs of the Day of the Dead, celebrated in Central and South America and the United States. Help to create a memorial ofrenda, or altar, in the Silas Wright House. Families can make the traditional decorative paper, papel picado, to add to the altar, and create a sugar skull (calaverita) to take home. Children can also get their face painted with Halloween or Dia de los Muertos imagery for a small additional fee. Loteria (a Mexican board game similar to bingo) will be available to play. Participants are encouraged to bring a small photograph of a loved one they wish to commemorate to add to the Silas Wright altar. Activities led by Alondra Maldonado Espinosa and Megan Royce.

Remington's Roundup - Frederic Remington Art Museum
Yee-Haw! Calling all cowgirls and cowboys! Join for a Round-up at the Fredrick Remington Museum in Ogdensburg, NY! Festivities include a scavenger hunt in the Museum, a dress-up selfie station, playtime and art activities at our children's museum (aka Kid's Place), gallery activities, Pig + Moo food truck, and a miniature horse to pet and lead around!
