St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Opens New Satellite Office in Massena
MASSENA, N.Y. — The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce marked a significant milestone in its regional integration strategy with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony held Thursday, March 12, at its new satellite office in Massena.
Located at 54 Main St., in a space formerly occupied by a local barbershop, which was owned by Robert W. Smith for more than 65 years, the office will be staffed by Assistant Director Laura Pearson on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The location serves as a dedicated hub for small business owners, residents, and visitors, offering direct access to membership benefits, local tourism information, and business development resources.
During the ceremony, St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ben Dixon characterized the opening as a vital step toward a fully integrated county-wide vision.
"This office represents a milestone on our journey as we pursue an integrated Chamber of Commerce for St. Lawrence County," Dixon said. "We are appreciative of the patience and support of the community as we pursued it. We have been making progress on our heading, and we believe we are getting great traction."
Dixon highlighted several local catalysts for growth, including Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) projects, the marquee lighting at the Schine Theater, and the promotion of recreational fishing opportunities. The Chamber currently represents more than 50 members in Massena (of their more than 400 total members) and hopes to greatly expand that membership this year.
"Massena is poised for positive growth and community building," Dixon added. "We are excited to be a part of that!"
The expansion follows a year of increased momentum in the Massena area, including the launch of a dedicated Seaway Newsletter and the successful "Business After Hours" event at Gristmill Brewery.
Dixon concluded the ceremony by thanking local partners, including the Town and Village of Massena, and County Legislators Rita Curran, Nicole Terminelli, and John Gennett. Recognition was also given to Massena-based Board members Nicole Ouellette, Craig Chevalier, Jill Winters, and Adam Soulia, alongside Leadership Circle members that were present: Liberty Utilities, Alcoa, Chimera Integrations, NBT Bank, United Helpers, and SUNY Potsdam.
