John Morrow Retrospective - A Voyage in Pigment

A Voyage Through Pigment

A Retrospective Exhibition of Art by John A. Morrow

On display July 26th through December, 20th, 2025
At the Frederic Remington Art Museum

For generations of North Country residents, John A. Morrow is more than an artist—he’s a mentor, a neighbor, and a local treasure. Now, in A Voyage Through Pigment, the Frederic Remington Art Museum is proud to present a sweeping retrospective of his life’s work, featuring over 100 original pieces in watercolor, oil, acrylic, and charcoal.

Spanning more than five decades of artistic evolution, this exhibition traces Morrow’s journey from his early explorations in paint to the richly layered, emotionally resonant works for which he is so beloved. A longtime art teacher at Ogdensburg Free Academy, Morrow shaped the creative lives of countless students, many of whom still recall his passion and guidance as formative. His work has been featured in national publications and even appeared on the set of the film A History of Violence, directed by David Cronenberg and starring Viggo Mortensen.

Whether you know him as a teacher, a friend, or a master of color and form, this is your chance to experience the full scope of John Morrow’s remarkable vision.
