This is a family-friendly program and will begin at 8:45 p.m. at Reynolds Observatory. To begin the evening, Dr. Roulston will provide an introduction to astronomy and discuss the fascinating history of the field, its development, and its use in navigation.
Additionally, he will give a tour of the large telescope at the observatory and demonstrate how to use the robotic telescopes.
After the presentation and demonstration, participants will enjoy an evening of stargazing at the observatory. After the sun has fully set, participants should be able to observe galaxies, nebulae, and possibly planets, pending clear visibility.
The program is estimated to finish around 10:30 p.m., but participants are welcome to leave earlier if desired.
This event is family-friendly and welcomes participants of all ages. Participants are encouraged to bring jackets, bug spray, and wear long pants to the program as the evenings can be rather cool.
