Description
SLCCH Brown Bag Presentation:
North Country Judaism at Congregation Beth El
May is Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM), celebrating the rich history, culture, and contributions of Jewish Americans to the United States since 1980.
In this month’s special Brown Bag Presentation, Casey Flancbaum will discuss the history of Judaism in the North Country, the history of Congregation Beth El, and how it engages with the community today.
Congregation Beth El is located in Potsdam and has been a central part of Jewish life in the North Country for over 50 years. They host an array of events throughout the year, including the annual Beth El Jewish Food Festival.
An open Q&A with Casey will follow the presentation.
About Casey Flancbaum: Casey Flancbaum is a recent re-transplant to the North Country and board member at Congregation Beth El in Potsdam. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Music from SUNY Potsdam, she moved to Denton, TX with her husband to pursue a Master's degree from the University of North Texas in Tuba Performance and Music Education. When not educating Jewish youth and adults, Casey spends her time with her husband, daughter, and two dogs out in the garden as much as possible!
