Schuler Family Tract at Streeter Lake History Hike
Join the SL Center for History and Culture on Saturday, October 26 for a history hike at Streeter Lake! Bill Hill will be leading another historic hiking tour in conjunction with his series, "Hiking the Trail to Yesterday."
This scenic hike will visit the Schuler Tract at Streeter Lake in the 26, 702-acre Aldrich Pond State Forest. The tour will start at a campsite on Streeter Lake Rd. There is parking available and an outhouse. Directions will be provided at registration.
Highlights Include:
- Schuler Family Tract
- 100-acre potato patch where experimental seed potatoes were farmed
- The former log lodge site
- Schuler Memorial Park and Mausoleum
- Approx. 4 miles roundtrip, medium difficulty
- Waterproof hiking books recommended
- Must wear an article of clothing that is red or orange for safety
- Halfway through the hike there will be a lunch break.
- Bring a bagged lunch and water for the trip. Bug spray, raingear, and sunscreen recommended.
- This history hike may be rescheduled due to heavy rain. The program will still occur in light rain. Registered participants will be notified by phone or e-mail of any changes by 4:00 PM, Friday, October 25. The rain date for this event is Sunday, October 27.
