Description
NORTH COUNTRY FOLK ORCHESTRA
WALTZ EDITION
TAUNY is pleased to announce that The North Country Folk Orchestra is back for a second semester! Led by fiddler Gretchen Koehler & guitarist Barb Heller, this session will focus on a variety of waltzes and culminate in a community dance in December.
The North Country Folk Orchestra is an instrumental ensemble that plays a wide variety of fiddle tunes popular in the North Country of Northern New York including music from around the USA, Canada, the British Isles and beyond. This multi-generational group welcomes beginning to advanced players who are ?comfortable? on their acoustic instruments (strings, woodwinds, brass) and will feature relaxed and creative folk arrangements that support both note readers and those who play "by ear." The North Country Folk Orchestra will meet bi-monthly starting in late September with the goals of enriching ensemble skills, playing a diverse repertoire, and having fun.
Rehearsals will take place on Mondays at 6-7:30 at the Potsdam Public Library, 2 Park St #1, Potsdam on the following dates:
- Monday, September 25
- Monday, October 9
- Monday, October 23
