Description
HIKING THE TRAIL TO YESTERDAY
Mark your calendar for the latest talk at the St. Lawrence County Center for History and Culture (previously known as SLCHA). Join outdoor enthusiast and writer William Hill as he shares the fascinating histories of hiking trails throughout Northern New York. From fire towers to former industrial centers, there are many long-abandoned or forgotten sites where remnants of railroads, mills, or entire towns or can still be seen - but only by foot. Bill will share highlights from his recent two-part book series, Hiking the Trail to Yesterday, and discuss his ongoing project to research and preserve the history of as many of these footpaths as possible, in St. Lawrence County and beyond.
William Hill is a life-long Northern New York adventurer, sportsman, writer, and outdoor enthusiast from Edwards N.Y. Working on Hiking the Trail to Yesterday, he has delved into the local history of the North Country and Adirondacks. Bill’s work can also be found on his blog or Facebook. Whether you are an outdoor recreationist or an armchair local history lover (or both), his writing will offer something for you.
Copies of Bill's books will be available for purchase after the talk.
This is a hybrid program.
