HALLOWEEN PARTY & CLOSING EVENTS FOR THE INHABITED ARABESQUES EXHIBIT
AN ALL DAY EVENT SERIES CELEBRATION!
To celebrate the closing of the Inhabited Arabesques exhibit, TAUNY invites you for a fun day of costumes and crafts ending with an immersive shadow play display that allows you to step inside James Gonzalez's haunting world of metal art. This is an all day event series on October 28th from 1-8pm, with no registrations needed!
The Sontag: Historical Knitting & Everyday Wear
October 28th: 1-4 PM
Suggested Donation: $3-10
Folkstore artist and pattern designer Mona Zillah has been leading a knit-along that invites participants to make a sontag, a historical shawl that wraps around the wearer and warms the heart. Join Mona and other knitters to talk about the project, show their work, and enjoy treats based on historical recipes by Chef Andre. In the process, you’ll learn how historical clothing is not just for Halloween costumes, but can be practical and beautiful for everyday wear. This event is open to anyone who loves knitting or historical attire. The event begins at 1pm at the Silas Wright House, and then moves to The TAUNY Center for snacks and pre-Halloween party fun!
