Description
Genealogy for Beginners
The Ogdensburg History Museum is excited to announce a new series of "Genealogy for Beginners" workshops led by veteran genealogist and fan-favorite presenter, Dale Sheldon. These hands-on sessions are designed to help residents navigate the rewarding journey of tracing their family history.
Beginning this spring, Sheldon will guide participants through the essential steps of building a family tree, from mastering census records to breaking through "brick walls" in their research.
Participants will gain practical skills in several key areas, including:
- Starting your family tree and establishing best practices.
- Understanding census records and common historical sources.
- Utilizing free online tools and resources.
- Specialized Assistance: Finding documentation for Canadian citizenship certificates.
