GardenShare's Fight Hunger Fair & 5K

Description

September is Hunger Action Month and in St. Lawrence County, hunger action is still needed. 

GardenShare is a Canton-based non-profit organization which promotes a local food system that ensures food security for all St. Lawrence County residents. The Fight Hunger Fair & 5K is a newly combined GardenShare event, it brings together the presentation of the 2023 Growing Community Award, Hunger Action Month activities, and GardenShare's annual Fight Hunger 5K. 

This will be a fun and family-friendly community event to bring awareness of food justice work in St. Lawrence County. Before, during and after the 5K Run/Walk, there will be educational games and activities centered around food system awareness, a story walk, and music, as well as tabling of community partners who strive to alleviate local hunger and food insecurity. How to Get Involved:

1. Registration for the event opens mid-August 2023
2. Refer your friends by sharing your unique link on social media (you?ll get this link after you register)
3. Fundraise for the event - this can be done individually or as a team. Grab your friends, family, or coworkers and fundraise together!
4. If you're unable to participate, consider donating to an individual or team. 
5. See who else is participating using the RunSignup.com dashboard
6. On September 17, come to Canton Village Park located in Canton, NY to participate in the 5K! If participating virtually, print out your digital bib and Fight Hunger from wherever you are.

Be sure to email photos to info@gardenshare.org, tag us in your social media posts and use #FightHunger5k, and/or upload photos and results directly through RunSignup.com.

We are also encouraging virtual 5K participation for anyone who would prefer to participate that way! Whether you'll be out of town that weekend or you're going to be running the 5K on your own time, you can still support GardenShare.
