Description
The festivities will be held Saturday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum, Madrid, NY.
Highlights of the event will include Confederate and Union Encampments; historical talks such as “Life of John Brown,” “What’s in my haversack?,” and “Small Arms of the Civil War;” and demonstrations of artillery firing and a Children’s Muster, which illustrates how members in a military unit are formally gathered, especially for inspection.
Live battle reenactments will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Field Music of the 12th Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment will entertain the “civilians” and soldiers. SLPEM will have a food booth on site.
Presented by the St. Lawrence County Historical Association (SLCHA), the St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum (SLPEM), and the 11th New York Light Artillery/Alexander’s Battery, the Civil War Reenactment Weekend will be held at a new location at the Power and Equipment Museum, 1755 NY-345.
Some additional attractions at SLPEM include a one-room schoolhouse, carriage house, log cabin, heritage fibers building, blacksmith shop, farmhouse, and more.
The entrance and free parking are in the back of the museum.
