Description
December Cheese of the Month Sampling at the Potsdam Food Co-op The Potsdam Food Co-op's featured Cheese of the Month for December is French Double Crème Brie. Samples will be available on Friday, December 10th beginning at 12 noon and will continue while supplies last. Brie is a classic soft ripened cheese that contains 60 - 75% butterfat, resulting in a creamy texture with a wonderful buttery flavor. Known as "The Queen of Cheeses", this delectable cheese is made of cow's milk and named for the Brie region in France where it originated. Its rich buttery taste with nutty undertones is perfect for any number of dishes. It is an essential addition to any cheese board and makes a delicious and decadent appetizer when wrapped and baked in puff pastry. Suggestions: As a quick lunch, toss slices of Brie with hot pasta, sun-dried tomatoes, and black olives. Also try spreading it on focaccia and topping it with roasted tomatoes and fresh herbs as a starter. When not incorporated in a warm recipe, serve Brie at room temperature. Known as one of the great dessert cheeses, serve it with fresh fruit such as berries, pears, apples, and grapes, or layer it with apple slices and serve it with warm caramel. Pair Brie with Duvel - a Belgian Golden Ale beer, available at Griffs Beverage Center in Potsdam. Show your Co-op Brie receipt and receive 10% off Duvel during the month of December. Find Brie in items located in the Grab n’ Go section of the Co-op’s Deli case during the month, along with recipes in the blog section of the Co-op’s website. Purchases of Brie will receive 10% off for the entire month of December. The Potsdam Food Co-op & Carriage House Bakery and Deli is located at 24 Elm Street and open daily from 8am to 7pm with curbside service available. It is a member-owned cooperative grocery store (although membership is not required) where everyone is welcome to shop and anyone is welcome to join.
