Description
Community Paddle - Aquatic Mammals
Join Nature Up North for another installment of our Community Paddle series!
Every other week we gather at the Little River boat launch on outer Park St. in Canton at 6:30 for a paddle on the Little and Grasse Rivers.
We provide the boats, paddles, and life jackets, you provide the paddle power!
The topic for this paddle is aquatic mammals, especially beavers!
Our Program Director Erika, who is a North Country mammalogist, will provide the scoop on different mammals who spend their lives in the water. What makes beavers the ecosystem engineers that are crucial to aquatic environments? How do they build their lodges and dams? Come paddle with us to find out! With any luck, we'll be able to spot beavers, muskrats, or some signs they leave behind on our trip.
