About Us

The Frederic Remington Art Museum preserves and shares the art, life, and legacy of Frederic Remington (1861–1909). Open to the public for more than a century, the Museum is home to the largest public collection of his work, including an exceptional range of original sculptures, paintings, drawings, and personal possessions. Located in the historic Parish Mansion, the Museum also stewards Eva Caten Remington’s collection and honors her vision of making this work accessible to the public.

Through dynamic exhibitions, scholarship, and public programs, the Museum interprets Remington’s work through a contemporary lens—expanding understanding of American art and the myth and reality of the West while exploring the diverse voices and experiences connected to these narratives. The Museum also celebrates Ogdensburg native and sculptor Sally James Farnham (1869–1943), a close colleague of Remington, whose work offers an important perspective on American sculpture and artistic practice.

As a cultural anchor for the North Country, the Museum is committed to engaging broad audiences, fostering meaningful dialogue, supporting regional artists, and ensuring Remington’s legacy remains relevant for generations to come.
