In this Brown Bag Presentation, author Bill Hill will discuss his latest book in the “Hiking the Trail to Yesterday” series.

Hiking the Trail to Yesterday Volume III takes a look at some local lore and mysteries, as well as the woods and water of the North Country.

Trails and tales explore forgotten fire towers, railroads, rivers, and lakes around St. Lawrence County. The book contains decades-old historic photographs that bring the stories to life

. Read about a train-eating bog. Take a trek to a deep-woods 1772 survey corner that every acre in Northern NY is plotted from. Paddle through the lost communities of Hollywood and Longbow on the Raquette River. Bushwhack up a mountain in search of a former fire tower site.

About the Presenter: William Hill is a lifelong Northern New York adventurer, sportsman, writer, and outdoor enthusiast from Edwards, N.Y. Working as “Hiking the Trail to Yesterday,” he has delved into the local history of the North Country and Adirondack regions. Not only hiking and exploring the trails and waterways, William also explores the rich history of these locations. His work can be found on his online blog and a Facebook page dedicated to his explorations, and he has written three books on the subject. Whether you are an outdoor recreationist or an armchair local-history lover (or both), his writing will offer something for everyone.
