After nearly two years of planning, the town of Norfolk is set to kick off bicentennial celebrations on Aug. 4.
FRIDAY, AUG. 4
2 – 8 p.m. – Book sale, sponsored by Friends of the Library, Norfolk Hepburn Library
3 – 7 p.m. – Classic car show, with food and prizes, Norfolk Fire Hall
4 – 6 p.m. -- Kids Entrepreneurial Fair, Norfolk Hepburn Library
5 – 6 p.m. – Supper in the Park at Old Time Prices, 25 cent hot dogs, 10 cent root beer, 5 cent popcorn, Norfolk Memorial Garden Park
5:45 p.m. – Costume contest, prizes awarded for best costumes from early 1800s, Norfolk Memorial Garden Park
6 p.m. – Opening ceremonies with Norfolk Brass Firemen, Dominic Zappia Arena
6 p.m. –Lacey Stoddard, Norfolk Concert Series, Norfolk Memorial Garden Park
7 p.m. – Barn dance, with music by Playback, Dominic Zappia Arena
8 p.m. – midnight – Recov’ry performs at The Coach Tavern
SATURDAY, AUG. 5
8 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Town-wide garage sales
10 a.m. – Parade, West Main Street to Dominic Zappia Arena
10 a.m. – 1 p.m. -- Book sale, Norfolk Hepburn Library
10 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Vendor fair, with Chinese auction and Lena the Lizard Lady, Dominic Zappia Arena
10 a.m. – 8 p.m. – Carnival rides, inflatables, pony rides & food trucks, Dominic Zappia Arena
11 a.m. – Cornhole tournament, double elimination with cash prices, $40 per team, benefit Norfolk Build-A-Bandshell fundraiser, to register: 314-244-7787, Norfolk Memorial Garden Park
Noon – 2 p.m. – Touch-a-truck, Dominic Zappia Arena
1 p.m. – Bingo, played like in the 1800s, $2 admission, 23 games, Norfolk Memorial Garden Park
2 – 4 p.m. – Piano Player Jarrett Larson, performs hits from yesteryear, Norfolk Memorial Garden Park
2:30 p.m. – Horseshoe tournament, grades 3 – 5; grades 6 – 8 at 3:30 p.m., 25 cents admission, Norfolk Memorial Garden Park
6 p.m. -- Atom Ghost, Norfolk Concert Series, Norfolk Memorial Garden Park
9 p.m. – Fireworks, Raquette River Golf & Country Club
SUNDAY, AUG. 6
8 – 11 a.m. – Breakfast, served at American Legion
11 a.m. – Closing ceremonies, with photo scavenger hunt and raffle drawing
