Film Screening + Discussion
A panel of local farmers will be present to discuss the film and its implications for St. Lawrence County farmers. Among the panelists will be Brian Bennett from Bittersweet Farm, Joel Howie of Canton Apples and Paul Sibbitts, former dairy farmer and Waste Not Permaculture board member. The screening is free. Light refreshments will be provided. Unlike previous screenings, this is a short video, not a feature length film.
The shorter length will provide you with more time for discussion. This event is sponsored by Waste Not Perma co-sponsored by GardenShare, Local Living Venture and EDF Renewables.
About the Film:
Released in 2024, this short film tracks the progress of Roy and Marilyn Thompson’s farm in Akaska, South Dakota as Roy struggles with Crohns disease. Eventually he is cured of this autoimmune disorder by eating a diet of nutrient dense foods under the guidance of a physician at the Mayo Clinic. When Roy realized that he couldn’t be healthy eating the food he was growing, he switched from conventional to regenerative farming practices.
