SUMMARY:Waddington Concert Series SUMMER SERIES CONCERTS LIVE MUSIC EVERY FRIDAY-2021!
DESCRIPTION:DOBULE AXEL: \n\nBack by popular demand Waddington Concert Series 2019 presents the legendary Double Axle Friday evening\, July 19th\, for a 3-hour show (6:30- 9:30 PM) at the pavilion\, Island View Park overlooking the beautiful St. Lawrence River. Rain or shine!!! Bring a chair and a friend\, head down to the bottom of Main St. and enjoy the show! This extended concert is sponsored by Seaway Trail Auto Sales/Car Wash\, Premier Self Storage\n\nA Potsdam "Fun Band" of the past playing your favorite tunes since 1971. "We don't really have to do this anymore\," said original member and current drummer Alex Vangellow. "We choose to do it."\n\n"The biggest reason we still do it is because people still have a good time when we play\," he said.\n\n"If that didn't happen\, it wouldn't be worth it\," said another of the original band members\, Rob Zolner\, who mainly plays keyboards and guitar these days.\n\nBassist Frank Johns\, also a Double Axle member for all 40 years\, is a retired teacher now\, but he recalls one of the main reasons he has stuck with it so long.\n\n"There was this thing I realized when I was teaching. When the weekends came\, and we were playing Friday or Saturday or both\, the gigs would recharge my batteries and I could go back to school on Monday ready to go." And he still gets a charge out of it all.\n\nThose three Vangellow\, Zolner and Johns -- formed the core of Double Axle from the beginning\, and they make the band a "power trio" today.\n\n\nCovid information will be posted as we review current guidelines and finalize decisions. For the past eleven years\, the Concert Series has allowed us to showcase local North Country musical acts along with other acts not often showcased in this area. These acts brought enjoyment to over 6\,500 people in 2019! The twelfth year of the Waddington Concert Series was scheduled to begin on June 19th\, 2020. Due to the pandemic all concerts were rescheduled for summer 2021. We start off the tentative sensational 2021 season with our opening show on June 18th. We sincerely thank our supporters and entertainers for their understanding\, cooperation and loyalty! We are excited to present nine fantastic concerts in our beautiful pavilion at Island View Park rain or shine!!! We can't wait to resume our series!
