SUMMARY:SLCCHC Book Club: "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our second SLCCHC Book Club meeting on August 24 at 6:00 PM! As we continue to celebrate the Semiquincentennial of the U.S. this year\, we look forward to sharing meaningful stories that represent our 250 years of history.\n\n\n\nThe 2026 Book Club will explore our history through a variety of lenses. Join us at any time! This month\, we will be reading "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand. This book follows Louis Zamperini\, a US Olympian and airman during World War II\, who became a POW in Japan.\n\n\n\nComplimentary books will be available for pickup at the Museum Gift Shop while supplies last.\n\n\n\nPlease indicate in your registration if you would like to get one through us.\n\n\n\nFunding for this program was provided by the STLC 250th Commemoration Committee. Notes: Adult vs. YA versions:\n\n\n\nThe adult version goes into more graphic detail related to sensitive topics\, including physical abuse/torture\, war violence and death\, PTSD\, addiction\, and sexual violence. The young adult version still covers these topics\, but in a less graphic manner. As a result\, the YA version is a bit shorter. Middle school and high school students aged 13+ are welcome to join the book club\, accompanied by an adult.
