SUMMARY:Higley 100 Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:This will be the 14th annual Higley Bike rides - on Sat. Sept. 8 at Higley Flow State Park.. As in the past\, there will be the choice of a 50k (31 mile) or 100k (62 mile) ride. The courses are set and registration is open online at https://bikereg.com/higley-hundred. There will also be registration forms at The Treadmill in Potsdam. \n\nAgain this year the rides will be followed by a buffet BBQ at the Trails Lodge in the Park. Details about the rides are at the above online link. The 100k ride is mapped here: https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/2148454387. The 50k follows some of this route but cuts through Pierrepont to make it shorter. \n\n\n\nRiders will leave the park and follow a mixture of rural town and county roads\, as well as state highways. The rides offer some of the best scenery in the area. The area is primarily rural but does pass through several small hamlets. We think you will find the routes challenging but attractive.\n\n\n\nThe park willl be closed for camping\, but riders will find rest rooms inside the Lodge. For others not participating in the ride the park offers 7.8 miles of hiking trails\, some of which are well suited to mountain biking. Additionally there are several shorter loops ranging from 2-25 miles which family and friends may enjoy riding while their century riders are on the course. The well known Stone Valley hiking trails\, that border cascading waterfalls along the Raquette\, are only four miles from the park.
