SUMMARY:Community Paddle - River Dynamics
DESCRIPTION:Community Paddle - River Dynamics\n\n\n\nJoin Nature Up North for another installment of our Community Paddle series! Every other week we gather at the Little River boat launch on outer Park St. in Canton at 6:30 for a paddle on the Little and Grasse Rivers. We provide the boats\, paddles\, and life jackets\, you provide the paddle power! The topic for this session is river dynamics\, and exploration of the signs left behind by the river as it carves its way through our landscape. On this paddle\, we'll head up the Little River and observe the scars left behind by the flooding from August 2024 when the Grasse and Little Rivers flooded their banks. The powers of the floods also exposed a bit about the composition of the soils beneath the Kip Tract\, and we'll discuss a bit about why we're seeing certain species of trees and plants at different points along the river. Be sure to register ahead of time here! https://www.natureupnorth.org/form/2026-july-11-paddle-registration
