Chris was still in high school then and would help his father repair chair frames and assist with the upholstering process.\n\n\n\nHis interest in chairs grew as he got older. In 2007\, Chris went to New Hampshire and studied with a Windsor chairmaker named Mike Dunbar\, who called himself the "Dean of Windsor Chairmakers."\n\n\n\nIt was a great experience and really opened his eyes to chair-making and repair\, which led to chair caning.\n\n\n\nChair caning is as important to chair repair as turning a new spindle or chair leg on the lathe\, and when done right\, it makes for a comfortable chair that can last decades\n\n\n\n. I hope that you will find caning as enjoyable as I do. Chris has a woodshop in his backyard in Norfolk\, NY.
