DESCRIPTION:Santa Claus is coming to Canton's Village Green the night after Thanksgiving\, Friday\, Nov. 24\, at 6 p.m.\n\nThe jolly old elf will kick off the 34th annual Canton Holiday of Lights celebration and greet the children in attendance with a candy cane and book.\n\nSanta will arrive in Monica Stone's sleigh carriage pulled by black Percheron workhorses led up Main Street by Canton Police Chief Mike Santimaw. Canton Volunteer Fire Department members will light Santa's way with tiki torches up to his platform from the sleigh.\n\nDiane Foote will lead everyone in carol signing\, while Santa and Canton Mayor Mike Dalton turn on the lights for the Crowell Memorial Tree and the War Veterans Memorial Tree.\n\nMain Street's signature white lights on the trees and the red-ribboned wreaths hanging from all the lamp posts on both sides of the street will be turned on during the event.\n\nFrosty the Snowman and his friends Rudolph\, Honey Bear and Spot The Fire Dog will be on hand to pose for photos with the children.\n\nAt the close of Santa's visit\, children and their families are encouraged to climb aboard the sleigh for a ride around the village.\n\nAll are encouraged to dress warmly and bring a flashlight.\n\nHot chocolate and cookies will be served in the First Presbyterian Church across the street from Santa's platform.\n\nThe Holiday of Lights celebration is funded by the sale of $2 red-ribboned white memory nametags for the Crowell Tree and donations from businesses and individuals.
