DESCRIPTION:59th Annual SLC Rock\, Gem\, Crystal\, Mineral & Jewelry Show\n\n\n\nThe St. Lawrence County Rock & Mineral Club will host its 59th Annual Rock\, Gem\, Crystal\, Mineral\, Fossil\, and Jewelry Mineral Show August 29-30 at the Canton Pavilion\, 90 Lincoln St.\, Canton.\n\n\n\nAdmission each day is $5 cash for adults. Children 12 and under are free. This year's show will feature over 25 vendors each showcasing a multitude of their specialty whether it be rocks\, gems\, museum quality crystals\, fossils\, mineral specimens (some that fluoresce under UV light)\, exquisite\, handcrafted jewelry made with precious and semi-precious stones\, gemstone beads/supplies\, and so much more.\n\n\n\nNew this year are Crystal readings with vendor Area 51 and Tarot & Oracle readings with vendor StoneWear Creations.\n\n\n\nShow Hours on Saturday\, August 29\, from 9 a.m\,. - 4:30 p.m. and Sunday\, August 30\, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.\n\n\n\nThe very popular Fluorescent Mineral Hunt for Kids 12 and under will take place Friday\, August 28\, at 8 p.m.\n\n\n\nA short presentation by Geologist club member Dino Zack\, University of Buffalo alumnus\, precedes the "hunt for rocks that glow". Children can borrow portable black lights to search for glowing minerals and keep what they find.\n\n\n\nThe club will also be providing free "Mineral Kits for Kids" in the big tent out front of the Pavilion on both days of the show\, Saturday and Sunday (while supplies last).\n\n\n\nA guided Mineral Collecting Field Trip to Power's Farm\, Pierrepont\, known for black tourmaline and quartz crystals\, is scheduled to leave the Pavilion at precisely 9 a.m. on Saturday\, August 29 only.\n\n\n\nThe collecting donation is $5 per person for the day. Please dress accordingly - no open toed shoes. Bring a bucket/canvass bag for collecting\, bug spray\, digging tools\, and water.\n\n\n\nFree Wire-wrapping Demonstrations/Classes by Dave Millis of Pennsylvania will be held both Saturday and Sunday. Millis\, known for his gem trees and wire-wrapped jewelry\, will provide free lessons to anyone interested in learning the art of wire wrapping. Tools and supplies are provided.\n\n \n\nRaffles. \n\nLarge Brazilian Amethyst Cathedral and Hand-crafted BBQ Grill (made and donated by club member Barry Whiteford).\n\n\n\nGrill ticket sales help offset the cost of the supplies for the Wire Wrapping Classes (held separately from the show. More info forthcoming on club website and FB page).\n\n\n\nTickets for both the cathedral and the grill cost $1 each\, or 6 for $5\, and can be purchased at the Cathedral table. The drawing will take place Sunday at 2 p.m.  - you do not need to be present to win if your ticket is pulled.\n\n\n\nT-Shirts\n\nWe will be selling 2026 club T-shirts. We are also selling off previous years' shirts at a fraction of the cost. We are possibly looking into a new LOGO design contest for next year's 60th celebration - follow the club's website for future info on the topic.\n\n\n\nSilent Auctions will be held throughout both days of the show\, featuring many mineral specimens\, crystals\, and jewelry. The Club Table will have many specimens available at a fraction of the cost for purchase.\n\n\n\nThis year's show will have food provided both Saturday and Sunday by The Blue Line Food Truck of The Blue House\, Madrid.\n\n\n\nThe Canton Pavilion is located on the banks of the Grasse River and includes ample parking\, walking trails\, benches\, and a playground.\n\n\n\nOnly Service Pets are allowed inside the pavilion. A portion of the proceeds from the show help support Scholarships at SUNY Potsdam as well as fund the "Mineral Kits for Kids" and the "Kids' Fluorescent Mineral Hunt."\n\n\n\nJoin the Rock Club. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month in the basement of the Canton Library.
